Product Operations & Manufacturing Design Areas of expertise include: Operations Program Manager (OPM) As an OPM, you will work with our New Product ("NPI") or Sustaining Operations teams on component & ramp readiness, product launch & ramp, or sustaining operations through ‘end of life’ programs. You will influence product manufacturability, testability, and supply chain responsiveness in pursuit of low cost and maximum flexibility while stewarding the highest standards of product quality expected of Apple's products. Global Supply Manager (GSM) Apple GSMs are responsible for the commercial relationship with our enclosure manufacturing partners and for cost negotiations, continuity of supply, risk management, driving operational and cost efficiencies through process or design change, as well overall project execution. GSMs sit at the intersection of Apple's business activities and engineering communities, and successfully and effectively balance the needs of both groups to ensure successful product launches. Enclosure components (such as the housing, cover glass, and buttons) define the look, feel, and expression of Apple’s globally-recognized industrial and product design. GSMs work in concert with operations supply quality and base engineers as well as Apple’s Product Design and Industrial Design teams. Together, these teams execute and scale both new and existing manufacturing processes, materials, technologies, finishes, and form factors. Manufacturing Design Engineer (MDE) Apple's Manufacturing Design Engineers (MDE) are extraordinary engineers who drive the development of key mechanical manufacturing processes across Apple’s worldwide supply base. MDEs are responsible for the development and implementation of high precision mechanical fabrication processes in an extremely high volume environment for all Apple Products. In this highly visible, hands-on role, you will have direct frequent communication and collaboration with Apple Industrial Design, Product Design, Manufacturing Design partners and worldwide suppliers. Quality Engineering, PQM and MQE Product Quality Manager (PQM) At Apple, PQMs own the final quality of the completed product and are leaders within the operations technical team during product development and high volume production. You are responsible for driving Apple’s highest of quality standards while ensuring the team delivers on operational metrics for UPH and yield. PQMs are the critical link between engineering and operations and a successful PQM will be able to dive deep on technical issues while understanding and effectively communicating the larger business impact. Manufacturing Quality Engineer (MQE) At Apple, a Mechanical Quality Engineer defines product cosmetic specifications and manufacturing quality control methods. In this highly visible role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on Apple Products, and leave a footprint for years to come. We manage a network of supplier factories worldwide, with responsibility for our partners' delivery to aggressive schedules. Our focus is on elegant execution of extraordinary industrial designs, resulting in products that thrill our customers. Strategic Sourcing Job Description Develop a multifaceted understanding of the commodity landscape to forecast industry trends and gauge emerging competitive forces. Identify changes in buyer and supplier power within core materials markets and use industry dynamics to Apple’s advantage. Effectively work with suppliers to negotiate optimal terms for sourcing. Understand the trade-offs between cost, volume, and quality in order to strike agreements that meet Apple’s performance criteria and secure long term supply continuity. Collaborate across the Apple organization to ensure business objectives are met. Rapidly synthesize and communicate findings to senior leaders and to actively identify potential supply issues that can affect product strategy. Optimize global supply chain performance through cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking. Develop an in-depth understanding of valuable manufacturing processes and costs, reverse logistics, and market intelligence, and apply this knowledge to influence Apple’s future product roadmap and sourcing decisions. Assess and mitigate risks to the business. Handle disruptions in real time with the support of an international team. Areas of expertise include: Global Supply Manager (GSM) In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies as well as recommending product innovations based on improving technology. This position requires an interest in market dynamics and competitive behavior, negotiation and pricing, manufacturing processes, and risk mitigation. Procurement Business Analyst This role is a unique opportunity to learn about product development and supply chain management at Apple, while contributing to the company’s operational excellence. Successful candidates will implement and refine tools & processes to deliver detailed analyses that enable informed decision-making. In addition, the role will support supply-demand management, spend and BOM (Build of Materials) cost tracking and analysis. Operations Product Development (OPD) The OPD team serves as the “one-stop shop” to advise the development teams on operational, cost, and supply chain issues. Operations Product Managers understand key technologies from a cost, supply chain, and technical perspective, manage product cost based on targets, partner closely with GSMs to meet these targets, and develop the Supplier Plan of Record for each new product. Materials Program Manager (MPM) MPMs are the crucial interface between Supply Demand Management, Global Supply Management, New Product and Sustaining Operations teams, and Contract Manufacturers. MPMs influence and run supply chain activities by working directly with these partners to optimize supply constraints in light of demand priorities, factory capacity, logistics requirements, quality challenges, and materials flow throughout Apple’s multi-tier supply chain. MPMs man- age supply availability throughout the entire product life cycle ensuring supply optimization and minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
