EEE INTERCONNECT COMPONENT ENGINEER, PRINCIPAL

As an interconnect component engineer, you will be responsible for all electrical wiring, connectors, and switch products used throughout SpaceX. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for all interconnect components, helping drive the selection, qualification, and ongoing reliability of interconnnect components used on our Dragon, Falcon, Starlink, and Starship vehicles.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide subject matter expertise for all interconnect components used at SpaceX

  • Drive the selection and qualification of high quality interconnect components for current and future SpaceX flight vehicles

  • Document and manage system level interconnect component usage across the Falcon, Dragon, and Starship programs

  • Manage EEE piece part certification of all interconnect components, including destructive analysis, supplier audits, reliability data collection, and supplier maintenance

  • Work with supplier quality and interconnect suppliers to resolve issues with, and drive improvement of, component design, manufacturing, and quality control

  • Develop and maintain internal interconnect quality documentation and processes

  • Perform root-cause evaluation of interconnect component failures and non-conformances, including the assessment, management, mitigation of any associated vehicle risks

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, materials, aerospace or other engineering discipline

  • 10+ years of experience with interconnect design, manufacturing, analysis, integration, or testing

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 15+ years of experience with interconnect design, manufacturing, analysis, integration, or testing

  • Experience with interconnect failure modes, troubleshooting, and root cause evaluation

  • Experience developing and executing interconnect test campaigns for hardware used in harsh environments

  • Proficiency with thermoplastic or metallic materials engineering and its application to interconnect design and performance

  • Familiarity with interconnect usage in low-speed signal, power, and high frequency applications

  • Familiarity with interconnect electromagnetic interference, compatibility, and shielding

  • Familiarity with interconnect contact mechanics, failure modes, manufacturing, testing, or design

  • Competence with electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.)

  • Experience with 3D CAD software (Siemens Unigraphics/NX preferred)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work weekends and extended hours as needed
