The advanced level factory automation serviceengineer position will provide Siemens support to a global automotivemanufacturing company that utilizes Siemens Factory Automation products invarious manufacturing processes and material handling systems.
Position will be based in the Austin, TX area,exclusively.
Candidatemust be well experienced with Siemens factory automation equipment andsoftware. Totally Integrated Automation (TIA Portal) Software, S7-ClassicSoftware, Safety PLCs, Safety I/O, field devices & hardwareconfiguration, communication protocols ProfiBus & ProfiNet, wirelesscommunications, HMI visualization software WinCC basic & advanced,Comfort Panels, RFID, and low voltage drives.
Additionaltraining will be provided for automotive customer’s core softwarestandards of program structure, blocks & calls, data, sequencers,etc.
Candidateshould display a high level of critical thinking in bringing successfulresolution to high-impact, complex, and/or cross-functional problems.
Position will requireeffective communications skills, both internal and external. Candidatewill be interfacing with customer contacts at different levels/functionswithin their organization.
Thefield service engineer will be embedded in the customer manufacturingfacility and will work an 8-hour day between 7am to 5 pm. In addition, overtime may be requiredfor emergency job/call outs /or for scheduled or planned shutdownactivities. Some weekend and after regular hours will be required.
Positionwill require submitting job reports covering daily activities.
Thisposition will be a part of Siemens Digital Industries, Customer ServicesBusiness Unit and will report to the Siemens Customer Services ResourceManager
Responsibilities
Attendand complete Siemens annual safety training and execute all activities ina safe manner while following all customer site and Siemens safetyguidelines and policies.
Site support for Siemens Factory Automationand to support customer in the use of Siemens hardware, software,engineering, commissioning, product support and service needs.
Responsible to supportcustomer and OEMs for issues with PLC/HMI code development, codeinstallation, debug on job site, and commissioning systems.
Active support role in thecreation of new automated systems and upgrades as well as the optimizingof existing systems.
Provide Siemens support bymeans of customer training and assistance to resolve issues andchallenges, drawing on Siemens large support network.
Provide on-site technicaland operational support when required.
Root cause analysis ofcomplex technical problems.
Training a new Siemens entrylevel controls engineer at the same site, will also be a responsibility.
RequiredKnowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

BS/BA in Engineering
5 to 7 years of experience with Siemens S7-Classicand TIA portal
Candidateshould be able to read and understand electrical plans, specifications,drawings, and installation schematics.
Has knowledge and ability to use electricalmeasurement equipment including multimeters, meggers, and oscilloscopes.
MS-Office Applications: Excel, Word,MS-Project
Individual must possess a valid Driver’slicense in good standing
Willingness to work a flexible schedule(nights and weekends, as needed)
20% Travel possible
PreferredKnowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Experience with Siemens Sinamics VFDs andStarter SW is preferred.
Experience in automotive industry assemblysystems is preferred.
German language skills are a plus
Programming Personal Safety equipment (i.e.Sick PLS) is a plus.
Experience with functional machine safety& SIL levels is a plus
Electrical, automation or control is preferredor equivalent combination of education and experience.
